چکیده

We investigate molecular beam methods for gold nanoparticles. They are based on electrospray, matrix assisted laser desorption and thermal laser desorption in combination with mass spectroscopy and multi-photon ionization. These techniques are analyzed with respect to their potential for coherent matter wave experiments. 2006 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Nanoparticle detection using dual-phase interferometry.

The detection and identification of nanoparticles is of growing interest in atmospheric monitoring, medicine, and semiconductor manufacturing. While elastic light scattering with interferometric detection provides good sensitivity to single particles, active optical components prevent scalability of realistic sizes for deployment in the field or clinic. Here, we report on a simple phase-sensiti...

Background-Free 3D Nanometric Localization and Sub-nm Asymmetry Detection of Single Plasmonic Nanoparticles by Four-Wave Mixing Interferometry with Optical Vortices

Single nanoparticle tracking using optical microscopy is a powerful technique with many applications in biology, chemistry, and material sciences. Despite significant advances, localizing objects with nanometric position precision in a scattering environment remains challenging. Applied methods to achieve contrast are dominantly fluorescence based, with fundamental limits in the emitted photon ...

Paired atom laser beams created via four-wave mixing

Sources of matter waves gained a dramatic improvement with the achievement of Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC) in dilute gases and the development of the atom laser [1]. Like optical lasers before them, atom lasers can produce Heisenberg-limited beam profiles and promise high spectral density through their dramatically lower linewidth. Another exciting possibility resulting from having such a c...

Optical Limiting Properties of Colloids Enhanced by Gold Nanoparticles Based on Nonlinear Refraction for Cw Laser Illumination

In this work, thermo-optical properties of gold nanoparticle colloids are studied using continuous wave (CW) laser irradiation at 532 nm. The nanoparticle colloids are fabricated by 18 ns pulsed laser ablation of pure gold plate in the distilled water. The formation of the nanoparticles has been evidenced by optical absorption spectra and transmission electron microscopy. The nonlinear optical ...

A Monte Carlo Study on Dose Enhancement by Homogeneous and Inhomogeneous Distributions of Gold Nanoparticles in Radiotherapy with Low Energy X-rays

Background: To enhance the dose to tumor, the use of high atomic number elements has been proposed. Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of gold nanoparticle distribution on dose enhancement in tumor when the tumor is irradiated by typical monoenergetic X-ray beams by considering homogeneous and inhomogeneous distributions of gold nanoparticles (GNPs) in the tumor.Method...
